There is a profound and significant value in the peace we experience as we approach the rural world and nature. La Alpujarra is composed of a number of white villages on the southern slope of Sierra Nevada. A landscape full of history, knowledge and flavors, the last redoubt of Spanish-Muslim culture.
During this activity we will discuss culture, traditions, history, agriculture and much more. Discover one of the most beautiful rural regions of Spain with an art interpreter in love with heritage.
The itinerary begins in Capileira, to continue on descent through the Barranco del Poqueira, a river that originates on the summits of Sierra Nevada at more than 3000m. It is a route of little difficulty for all audiences in which, we cross Bubión until we reach Pampaneira.
We will stroll through the medieval urbanism of its streets and visit places such as a traditional loom, the Chocolate Factory of Granny Ili or the Alpujarreño museum of arts and customs. Through laundry rooms and ditches, we will learn about the hydraulic system inherited from Arab culture.
We recover traditions from the past of this land to value memories forgotten by time, the result of a loss of sense of identity between the community and its environment.
